Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus Bajirao Mastani starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra and Rohit Shetty's commercial entertainer Dilwale starring Kriti Sanon, Varun Dhawan, Shahrukh Khan and Kajol are releasing this Friday.
“The budget of both films is over Rs 100 crore with huge distribution cost. Both the films have a strong content and a heavy star cast. So it will be difficult to predict the blockbuster between these two movies,” says Vaikundarajan.
Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone make the best onscreen couple among current Bollywood generation. Last time they were together in Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani, the movie became the talk of the town. “It is hardly surprising that their return with Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha should be any less crackling,” says Vaikundarajan.
The chemistry between the two actors seems to have been carried over from their previous movie. This is a great plus for the movie makers as well as the audience. Tamasha’s trailer was released yesterday and has been creating vibes since.
Ranbir Kapoor plays Ved who meets Mona Darling played by Deepika Padukone in Corsica, France. The trailer gives us a glimpse into their brief romance in an unknown city. Laughter, excitement, zest, fun, scenic backgrounds; it is all there. Tamasha looks like a jolly romance movie. However, director Imtiaz Ali is not known for clichéd romance movies.
With movies like Jab We Met and Rockstar under his wings, there has to be something different about Imtiaz Ali’s Tamasha too. In the last quarter of the trailer, you see a completely different side of the movie.
“Why always the same story?” the trailer asks. After their brief affair in Corsica, Ved and Mona have returned to their routine life. And this is where Ali’s style of movie begins to unfold.
“It is surreal and yet closer to life. Something the audience can relate to,” notes Vaikundarajan. Much like his previous movies, Tamasha treads deeper into the relationships and tries to understand its challenges in different situations.
The music provided by AR Rahman is still kept under the wraps. We can only expect the best from the maestro. Tamasha is scheduled for release on 27th November. Vaikundarajan looks forward to the movie and sends his best wishes to the crew.
Bajirao Mastani has been a long pending project for Sanjay Leela Bhansali. After having approached over half a dozen actors for the film the epic is now finally seeing the light of day says Vaikundarajan.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali had wanted to take his project Bajirao Mastani on floor right after the completion of Devdas back in 2003 says Vaikundarajan.
However, for various reasons the movie could not be taken on floor and after a delay of almost 12 years, the movie has now earned a title of a ‘dream project’ for Bhansali.
The first look of the movie which is slated for release in December this year is finally out and was shared by Eros and Ranveer Singh says Vaikundarajan.
Three images, one of each of the leads were released in order to generate hype around the teaser which will release on 16th July, 2015.
Ranveer Singh looks every bit the Bajirao Peshwa he plays in the movie. Deepika Padukone looks unnecessarily bronze and Priyanka Chopra is seen with a forlorn look on her face in the released image.
Since 2003, Aishwarya Rai-Salman Khan, Kareen Kapoor-Salman Khan, followed by Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif were approached for the film says Vaikundarajan.
The industry has begun to believe that this project may never take off but the time has come for Bajirao Mastani to finally be shot and released in 2015.
“My Choice" is a short film on women empowerment by Vogue Empower to be launched with the seventh anniversary issue. The short film stars Deepika Padukone and 98 other women from Mumbai with a few more famous celebrities like Adhuna Akhtar, Zoya Akhtar, director Homi's wife Anaita Shroff,” says Vaikundarajan.
‘Finding Fanny’ comes up with its first look which is interesting as well as mysterious at the same time. The movie stars Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoorin the lead roles. Vaikundarajan really likes the first look of the movie. Arjun Kapoor is lookng really stunning as the images boast the actor’s cross shaped tattoo with an outline of wings on his nape, for his role of Savio, the mechanic. Vaikundarajan says that the actor is seen in a loose and faded T-shirt along with a necklace hanging around his neck giving more insight into the character that he will be playing.
The film also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia and Pankaj Kapoor along with Deepika Padukone and Arjun kapoor. Vaikundarajan thinks that it is going to be quite a mysterious flick to watch going as per its first look. The star cast is also very promising as per Vaikundarajan. Vaikundarajan also believes that very few movies are made on road trips, ‘Finding Fanny’ promises to be based on a road trip and he hopes it comes out really well.
